Black Sesame Lady Fingers
These Black Sesame Lady Fingers are a delightful twist on the classic Italian treat. Light and airy with a delicate crunch, they are infused with the nutty, toasted flavor of black sesame seeds. Perfectly sweetened and slightly chewy, these lady fingers make an excellent addition to desserts like tiramisu or can be enjoyed on their own with a cup of tea.
- 3 large eggs separated
- 100 g cane sugar
- 100 g all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 25 g black sesame powder
- 40 g cornstarch
- powdered sugar
- black sesame seeds optional, for decoration
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Beat egg yolks, 50g sugar, vanilla, and salt until pale and fluffy.
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 50g sugar, beating until it reached stiff peaks.
Fold egg whites into the yolk mixture, then sift and fold in flour, black sesame seed powder, and cornstarch until combined. Transfer to piping bag.
Pipe 4-inch logs onto lined baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart. Dust with powdered sugar & sprinkle with black sesame seeds
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the lady fingers starts turning golden.
Cool completely and store in an air tight container for up to two weeks.
